The Extra Point: Maximizing Efficiency in Outside Bank Accounts and Stale Dated Check Processing
Understand the hidden yardage of outside bank accounts! This session will explain how outside bank accounts are different from state depository accounts, how to utilize them in relation to West Virginia Code, and the process of submitting annual outside bank account information to the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office.
Sack stale dated checks: While stale checks issued from wvOASIS are automatically transferred to Unclaimed Property, those issued from an outside bank account are not. Attendees will learn how to identify and prioritize stale dated checks and develop a plan to report and reconcile items in accordance with state regulations.

Touchdown Strategies for Cash Handling Success
Reach the end zone with expert cash handling skills! In this session attendees will learn how to implement winning internal controls for secure financial management and prevent fumbles and errors with accurate receiving, receipting, and processing. The session will also include a review of cash handling procedures that will assist in mitigating risk and achieving agency objectives. The session will conclude with attendees having an opportunity to ask questions about how to improve on their agency’s internal cash handling processes.
