Who We Serve

Simply put, we serve West Virginians. In addition to our core state banking duties, we assist people who call our beautiful Mountain State home. Whether it’s finding unclaimed money you didn’t know about, investing in your child’s educational future, or preparing for your family’s financial wellbeing, we are here to make the process easier.

West Virginia Citizens

Our goal at the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office is to make life better for all West Virginia citizens. Guarding public funds and developing top-tier programs is an important part of our daily duties. We invite you to explore some of the helpful programs and resources we offer.

The West Virginia Treasury’s Banking Services Division manages the state’s operating fund and processes all state receipts and disbursements. Additionally, it’s our responsibility to make sure state agencies (spending units) have the resources needed to properly collect revenue or handle cash. Learn more about those resources.

Local Governments

What is a local government? Examples include counties, cities, towns villages and special districts that are considered political subdivisions of a state. In West Virginia, these local governments can use the West Virginia State Treasury’s services to help with everything from accepting online payments through WV Go-Pay to investing operating funds with the BTI to reporting and remitting special fees.

Financial Institutions

The West Virginia State Treasurer is responsible for managing the state’s multiple banking functions and financial services. Our office works closely with financial institutions to ensure the banking needs of the state are being met and public funds are properly collateralized and protected.
