WV Treasury Firearm Auction Banner

Every year, the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Program Hosts Confiscated Firearm Auctions that generate thousands of dollars for local law enforcement agencies. The firearms available for auction are considered abandoned and remitted by law enforcement agencies annually to the Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Program, in accordance with state law. These auctions typically include a wide variety of quality firearms for purchase.

The proceeds from the auctions are returned to West Virginia law enforcement agencies. Funds generated from this program have become instrumental in equipping West Virginia law enforcement agencies with safety gear, personal body armor, and other needed resources.

These auctions are professionally managed and are restricted Licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) Dealers. Going forward, these auctions will be held both in-person and online.

All FFL Holders are required to register prior to participating in either our online or in-person auctions.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Assistant Treasurer of Security Mike Comer at mike.comer@wvsto.gov or call 304.340.5021.
